2008 FISH-OFF RULES

1. Entries:   There will be a $25.00(twenty-five dollar) entry fee per club fish-off. The club will retain 25%(twenty five percent) or no less than $25.00 (twenty-five dollars) of the total pot to help with the cost of trophies and prizes at the end of the year.

                The remainder of pot will be broken down as follows;

                 First Place-50%

                 Second Place-25%

                Big Bass-25% BEFORE ANY MONIES ARE DIVIDED

      The first and second place finishers will receive all cash awards at the next club meeting. This will eliminate any problems with the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources (Fish-offs could be called a tournament).

2.  Pairings: Fish-off committee will be responsible for all pairings of partners. Pairings to be made at club meeting prior to each fish-off. Each member is allowed one (1) show-up without signing up at a meeting. Committee chairman will take entry up to the night before fish-off. Eight (8) o'clock p.m. will be the cut-off time to be paired with odd man in the draw. If there is no odd man, you will fish by yourself without using your show-up.

One (PICK-YOUR-PARTNER)-(PYP)- Fish-off will  be conducted each year.

3.  Scoring: Scoring will be by boat.

       SIX FISH PER BOAT WITH TWO PEOPLE IF LOCAL FISHING LAWS APPLY.

      ONE PERSON WILL SET LEGAL LIMIT FOR ALL TEAMS.

       A two-man team will receive equal points. A one-man team will receive his points only. there will be no (ghost) partners.

        If you participate in a fish-off but don't catch any fish, you will be awarded 10 points for participating.

      Point System:

          100-First              75-Sixth          50-Eleventh

          95-Second        70-Seventh     45-Twelfth

          90-Third             65-Eighth        40-Thirteenth

          85-Fourth           60-Ninth          35-Fourteenth

          80-Fifth               55-Tenth         30-Fifteenth                             25-Sixteenth  20-One legal fish

4.   Penalties: Weigh in only your catch or your partner's catch.

       One dead fish penalty-16 oz.

       Two dead fish penalty-32 oz.

       Three dead fish penalty-48-oz.

        Short fish penalty-32 oz

5.   General rules: Harkins tournament rules shall apply.

        Flipping, pitching, casting and jigging are allowed.

        Eight-foot (8') maximum rod length.

        No trolling- no live bait- no culling of fish at the ramp.

        Violation of rules or receiving a citation of fish violations will    be grounds for disqualification.

6.  Take-Offs: Everyone will leave fish-off from the same ramp. Take-off numbers will be assigned at the time of pairings of partners. Committee member will conduct take-off.

7.         Fish-Off rule change: 2008

     A. LENGTH LIMITS AS PER LAKE RULES.

    B. TRAILERING IS ALLOWED.

    C. THE USE OF LOCKING THROUGH SMITHLAND

       TO FISH THE OHIO, CUMBERLAND, AND THE TENNESSEE RIVER WILL BE ALLOWED.

    D. NEITHER LAKE WILL BE OFF LIMIT WHEN

         FISH-OFFS ARE SCHEDULED FOR KY OR

         BARKLEY LAKE.

8.  Awards: Special awards will be presented at the annual banquet in addition to trophies.

          Bass Buster of the year- $500

          Runner-up-$200

          Classic Winner-$200

          Big Bass of the year-$100

       Special Awards: Pins will be awarded for bass caught (their weight verified) and released. Bass must be caught in the state of Illinois, including Smithland Pool or any club fish-off, but the fish has to be caught on public waters.

          Copper- 7 pounds            Silver- 9 pounds

          Brass- 8 pounds               Gold- 10 pounds
